긍정적 행동지원이 학교에서 잘 이루어진다고 해도 지역사회로 긍정적 행동지원이 확장되지 않으면 효과성을 발휘하기 쉽지 않습니다. 학교에서 긍정적인 행동을 학생들에게 가르치면 지역사회에서 그러한 행동을 적극적으로 인정해주고 강화해주어야 학생들의 좋은 행동이 학생들에게 내재화될 것입니다. 또한, 지역사회에 있는 다양한 전문기관(장애 및 비장애 아동의 전문치료, 상담, 복지 기관 등)의 참여가 학생들의 긍정적 행동지원을 위해 반드시 필요한 부분이기도 합니다.
